Selected work

Software we've shipped for clients.

A small portfolio, by design. We take on a few client engagements a year so we can stay close to the work. Two we can talk about publicly are below — a full integrated software build for a relationship-driven small business, and a mobile product for a family-tech client.

Cornerstone Funeral Home

A full integrated business platform — built and shipped for a relationship-driven small business that had outgrown the standard industry stack.

Client brief

Replace the day-to-day reality — a stagnant website nobody could update, Yellow Pages and newspaper spend that nobody could measure, social posts done by hand, family communications living in inboxes, scheduling and intake on paper — with one integrated system the staff could actually run. Respect the dignity of what a funeral home does; nothing generic, nothing that felt like SaaS.

  • · Client portal — documents, status, approvals
  • · Full custom front-end website + content management
  • · Document generation & template system
  • · Estimating, pricing, and automated accounts payable
  • · QuickBooks two-way sync
  • · Time tracking integrated to billing

  • · Obituary publishing & auto cross-posting to Meta
  • · Community Partners Network (Support the Family) flywheel

Status

In production. Sixteen integrated modules running on a single database. The marketing & ops stack runs end-to-end on a handful of hours per week from one designated staff member — no marketing specialist required.

What changed for them
Single system

Replaced the manual processes, paper trails, and stagnant website that the team was working around.

~$98k / yr

Annual marketing & ops spend reclaimed for staff time and growth.

4–5 hrs / wk

For one staff member to run the full marketing stack.

Brand-voice governed

Every AI-assisted message respects how the firm actually talks to families.

What we like about it

A funeral home is the kind of business where the relationship is the product. Software's only job is to take the busywork off the staff so they can be present with families. That constraint shaped every design decision — no notifications fighting for attention, no engagement loops, no dashboards that don't earn their place.

The integrated build for Cornerstone is also what became Foundation — the platform we now adapt for other industries. The thinking that worked for a funeral home carries through to any business where customer relationships compound over years.

Staff portal — the inside

The public-facing site lives at cornerstonefuneralhome.com. The internal modules — CRM, marketing, finance, analytics — are proprietary to the client and aren't shown.

Wander

A field guide for families — discovering parks, playgrounds, trails, and outdoor spots near you.

Client brief

Build a mobile app that takes a family from "we should do something" to actually out the door — without a fifteen-minute planning session. Trustworthy data, real reviews, the small details (washrooms, shade, fencing, accessibility) that matter when you arrive.

What we shipped
  • · Native iOS app (Swift) with offline-first map tiles
  • · Backend, data pipeline & admin (Python + Postgres + Redis)
  • · Map discovery service ingesting curated park data across cities
  • · Family-friendly review & photo system with moderation
  • · Marketing site (Astro + Cloudflare) at wanderapp.ca
  • · TestFlight rollout, App Store assets, brand work end-to-end
Status

Currently in TestFlight beta with a growing family-tester cohort. Android build planned. Ongoing partnership for product, engineering and growth.

What we like about it

Wander is a small product with a generous heart. It exists to get families outside — not to maximize session length. We built it the same way: every screen earns its place; every tap is justified; nothing about it is engineered to keep you in the app.

That restraint is hard to keep when you're shipping. It only happens if it's a deliberate design choice from day one. That's the kind of constraint we like working under.

Other engagements

Most of our work doesn't have a public face.

Internal systems, back-office integrations, AI tooling for ops teams — the kind of software that doesn't get a launch post. If you'd like to hear about engagements relevant to your situation, ask.
